Top 10 list of things to do Vancouver.

  1. Walking to one of the many (about 150) restaurants within 1 mile (2km) of our home (we’ll leave a list of our current favourites). We often start our day with Belgium waffles or have great sandwich for lunch at Patiserrie Bordeau, a Belgium bakery in our block
  2. Attending the Vancouver International Wine Festival in the last week of February. In 2014, there were 177 wineries from 14 countries pouring 1,750 wines at 54 events.
  3. Attending one the of the many live theatres, arts festival, and Movie theatres that are on all year round and within an easy walk from our home, The PUSH Festival in January, Bard on the Beach in the Summer. The Fringe Festival or the the film festival in the fall, the Writers’ Festival in the winter, and live theatre or movies all year. There is a five screen movie theatre, Fifth Ave Cinema, three blocks from our door.
  4. Bike riding along along False Creek or Stanley Park, stopping at the Olympic Village for coffee. We can access over 100 km of dedicated cycling or walking routes, Greenways, within a few blocks of our home. As part of the greenway system we have over 28 kilometres of dedicated walking cycling paths that are right on the ocean front 4 blocks from our home.
  5. Shopping at Granville Island Market for fresh food (vegetables, fruit, baking, meat, fish, etc.) for our daily meals.
  6. Taking cooking classes. One our our favourite places is Barbara Joe’s Books to cook in the cookbook store in our block.
  7. Exploring the wild nature of the mountains and the oceans on our doorstep. Hiking, Cross Country skiing or snowshoeing at Seymour, Cypress or Grouse mountain. Kayaking in False creek or picnicking at Spanish banks or kits beach. They are within a short walk, a short drive drive or easy access by bus from our home.
  8. Yoga at Y-yoga. We like restorative yoga. There are many Gyms and Yoga studios close to our home.
  9. Going swimming at one of the many beaches and pools close to us. favourite is Aquafit in the summer at Kits Pool, Vancouver’s public 137 meter salt water pool. http://vancouver.ca/parks-recreation-culture/kitsilano-pool.aspx
  10. Enjoying the sunsets over English Bay and watching the fireworks from Sunset or Kits beach in summer.
